ABOUT

According to the research group(*a) of Hokkaido University and Sapporo Medical University, the Fumanet exercise has many benefit to the cognitive and gait function.  It is also solitude in growing ages.

The name “Fumanet" originated from the Japanese phrase “Do not step on the net”. The concept of this exercise is to lengthen stride length in a controlled manner that focuses on weight distributions through gait function. Participants will engage in various walking patterns with controlled intent to move from one end to the other. In addition, the multitude of variables provide a stimulating environment for cognitive function.

Japan is currently home to the world’s oldest living population. By 2050, Japan’s population is estimated to increase 40% in the category of people living over the age of 65

Professor Kitazawa noticed too many sedentary adults in the country with a drastic level of free time. Fumanet was the professors way of reintroducing purpose to these individuals by certifying senior citizens to teach this exercise program.

First class was held in the summer of 2005 in Hokkaido, Japan,

Classes are now offered in Japan, Korea, and the Unites States of America.
